Prof. Anatoli Mikhailov (1992-2004, 2005-2014)

 

Professor Anatoli Mikhailov is an outstanding Belarusian scholar and philosopher. His research interests focus on philosophical hermeneutics, phenomenology, methodology in the humanities.

In 1992, Professor Anatoli Mikhailov founded EHU and became its first Rector.

In 1961, Prof. Mikhailov graduated from the Belarusian National University in Minsk (Belarus). In 1966, he received his PhD in Philosophy at the University of Jena (Germany). Prof. Mikhailov is a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts as well as the  Belarusian National Academy of Sciences and other educational organizations. He is also a member of the International Council at the International Centre for Democratic Transition.

In 2003, Prof. Mikhailov was given the rank of Officer in France’s Order of Academic Palms and in 2004 he received Germany’s prestigious Goethe Medal. In 2007, he was bestowed Ion Ratiu Democracy Award.

During the period of October 1, 2014 – January 5, 2021, Founding Rector Prof. Anatoli Mikhailov held the office of the University President.
