Global Belarusians Meeting in Vilnius

Eastern Europe Study Center (EESC) in cooperation with European Humanities University (EHU), the Global Belarusian Leaders Network, and EuroBelarus are organizing the Global Belarusians Meeting, which will take place on 29 June – 1 July 2016 in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The Meeting will gather renowned Belarusian historians and experts of Belarusian culture and identity from Belarus, Lithuania and other countries. Discussions about a joint Lithuanian – Belarusian past, the Belarusian European identity, and contemporary Belarusian culture will take place.

A Belarusian artists’ exhibition will take place at Vilnius Town Hall (Didzioji str. 31) from 29 June – 17 July 2016. The official opening will be on 29 June 2016 at 18.00.

On June 30 two screenings of Belarusian films: “GaraSh” and “Count in Oranges” (both will English subtitles) will be held. These new movies have already gathered recognition in European movie festivals.

The Belarusian band “Recha” is coming from Belarus to introduce Lithuanians Belarusian music culture, and will perform on 1 July in the backyard of Lithuanian Theater, Music and Film Museum starting from 7 pm. Recha  is a rock chanson-pop band from Minsk, who loves to sing and dance together with the audience! The band has performed in Lithuania before and this time is bringing a new album “Pierajnačyc”.

Discussions with renowned Lithuanian and Belarusian historians, philosophers, cultural figures, and civic activists will take place on 1 July from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm. Working languages: Lithuanian and Russian. If interested to attend discussions, please register by email at agne.prasciene@eesc.lt.
