EHU presents anthology of political prisoners

The European Humanities University (EHU) presents Voice of Freedom from behind Bars: An Anthology of Belarusian Political Prisoners’ Works—a book compiled and edited by EHU faculty member and political scientist Dr. Aleksandr Feduta.

The presentation of the book by Dr. Feduta (former political prisoner himself) will take place at 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 29 on EHU’s campus (Valakupių 5, Room 213).

The anthology Voice of Freedom from behind Bars holds within its covers poetry, memoirs, diaries, stories, and articles written by citizens of Belarus who have been or continue to be politically persecuted. Among the authors are well-known poets, journalists, politicians, and first-time authors.

The book was published by EHU Press with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

Five co-authors, including several former political prisoners, will join Dr. Feduta for the presentation:

  • Vladimir Nekliaev—poet, presidential candidate in 2010, political prisoner, sponsor of EHU scholarships
  • Pavel Sheremet—journalist for news portal belaruspartisan.org, political prisoner
  • Aleksandr Kirkevich—journalist from Hrodna, political prisoner
  • Zmitser Dashkevich—leader of The Young Front, political prisoner
  • Valiantsina Alinevich—mother of political prisoner Ihar Alinevich

Brief English interpretation of the presentation will be provided.
