EHU announces internal search for Heads of Academic Departments’ Positions

The European Humanities University (EHU) in Vilnius announces a search for the positions of the Head of the Academic Department of Humanities and Arts and the Head of the Academic Department of Social Sciences.

Selected candidates will be offered Vilnius located/relocated positions; 40 hours per week workload supplemented by possibility to work 0,25 FTE with academic activities; one year contract period with possibility of extension with one more year. The selected candidates will directly report to the Chief of Academic Affairs.

Candidate’s essential responsibilities:

  • to develop and to encourage a shared vision for the future directions, goals and priorities of the Department aligned to the broader mission and goals of EHU;
  • to cooperate closely with and to advise the EHU management on the goals and priorities of the University;
  • to be responsible for providing academic, strategic and administrative leadership of the Department including efficient management of the human resources of the Department;
  • to promote interdisciplinary cooperation internally and between Departments and establish at least one interdisciplinary program;
  • to foster the development of outstanding academic programs, research and faculty training;
  • to monitor and to evaluate the Department’s teaching, research and community engagement activities in relation to comparable Departments both within and outside EHU;
  • to improve the level of engagement with private business, professions, employers and the community;
  • to maximise opportunities for raising funds from appropriate external sources.

Candidate’s key qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent in relevant academic field;
  • At least 5 years of experience with teaching and research at the University level preferably in the field of humanities and social sciences, including relevant experience with international University collaboration;
  • At least 3 years of senior leadership experience in an academic structure will be preferable;
  • Experience in working with the European Union structures demonstrating a good knowledge of the international University sector;
  • Communication in Russian, Belarusian and English.

  • Official transcript(s) of the highest degree(s) received;
  • A proposal/vision for the Department’s development (one page).

Candidates will be interviewed by the EHU Selection Committee, which will be composed from EHU leadership, representatives from faculty, an external academic representative and – as observer – a student representative.

  • Probation period of 3 months
