Read: Five stereotypes about the Belarusian language by Andrei Vazyanau

Social anthropologist, lecturer of Academic Department of Social Sciences at European Humanities University dr. Andrei Vazyanau presented an opinion piece on Belarusian language on the website of Lithuanian national broadcaster LRT (www.lrt.lt).

On the occasion of the International Mother Language Day, Andrei’s text rebukes stereotypes regarding features of Belarusian language, its’ use and practice by the residents of Belarus and diaspora communities. It discusses the historical context, challenges and opportunities for Belarusian speakers, whose multilingual skills contribute to their efforts to open up dialogue and establish links between communities.

European Humanities University is committed to promote the usage of Belarusian language in its’ study curricula and support its’ students and faculty members in conducting the study process and publishing their work in Belarusian.
