EHU Announces the 2024-2025 Vis Moot Team

The European Humanities University is proud to introduce the Vis Moot Team for the 2024-2025 academic year. This year’s team comprises four outstanding law students:

Konstantin Lavrinovich, Anastasiya Zahorskaya, Ulyana Halushka and Uladzislau Suvorau. Each member brings unique strengths and a deep passion for the law, making them a remarkable team for the upcoming Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot competition.

Konstantin Lavrinovich is a 4th-year in the integrated “International Law and European Union Law” program at EHU, returns to the Vis Moot team with valuable experience from the previous year. His legal interests are primarily in financial law, commercial law, civil litigation, and arbitration. Konstantin also has a broad range of intellectual pursuits, including historical and political sciences, philosophy, and literature. Outside of academia, he enjoys football and camping. His previous participation in the Vis Moot competition provided him with an exceptional opportunity to enhance his professional skills and expand his legal knowledge, both theoretical and practical.

Anastasiya Zahorskaya is a 3rd-year “Law” student, brings a strong background in civil law, intellectual property law, litigation, and contract law. Her academic journey includes a semester in Scotland, where she gained insights into the Anglo-Saxon legal system. Anastasiya is also an active participant in scientific conferences, where she has presented multiple articles on human rights issues. She is passionate about public speaking, negotiations, ice hockey, and continuous learning. Fluent in English and currently studying French, Anastasiya’s linguistic abilities further complement her legal acumen.

Uladzislau Suvorau is a 5th-year student in the integrated “International Law and European Union Law” program at EHU. His academic focus includes commercial, arbitration, and criminal law. Uladzislau has written term papers on the “International Legal Protection of Cultural Heritage during Military Conflicts” and “Arbitration of International Commercial Disputes: Conditions of Effective Application”. During his Erasmus+ exchange at the University of Glasgow, he successfully completed courses in Law of Contract, Cybercrime Law, and Law & Social Theory. Uladzislau’s interests extend beyond the law, with hobbies such as reading, volleyball, and basketball. He is fluent in English and Polish, and also speaks German. His passion for learning about other cultures and solving legal cases in a team environment makes him a valuable asset to the Vis Moot team.

Ulyana Halushka is a 2nd-year student in the “World Politics and Economics” program at EHU. While her academic focus may not directly align with the core themes of the competition, this unique perspective adds great value to the team. Ulyana’s background in international relations, geopolitical strategy, and economic diplomacy complements her solid understanding of commercial law and arbitration. She is proficient in English, has a basic knowledge of French, and is currently learning German. Outside of her academic and linguistic pursuits, Ulyana is a creative individual with a passion for drawing and a refined talent for crafting handmade jewelry. Her diverse skills and perspectives are sure to enrich the team’s approach to the upcoming competition.

This team is being coached by Aliaksei Vashkevich, who is embarking on yet another year as the coach of the EHU Vis Moot team. The university is thrilled to have Aliaksei continuing in this role, recognizing the invaluable guidance and expertise he brings to the team. His dedication to the team’s development has been a cornerstone of their success, and his commitment to nurturing the next generation of arbitration professionals is deeply appreciated.

In addition to the team’s strong lineup, Anastasiya Aksenova, a 4th-year student in the integrated “International Law and European Union Law” program, is joining the Vis Moot team in a new role as a coach. A former participant in the competition, Anastasiya brings invaluable experience and insights from her time as a team member. Her transition from competitor to coach is a testament to her deep understanding of the challenges and strategies involved in the Vis Moot. The EHU community is proud to have Anastasiya in this new role, confident that her firsthand experience and dedication will greatly benefit the team as they prepare for the upcoming competition.

Since 2021, the Commercial Law Development Program (US Department of Commerce) has been providing invaluable organizational and financial support to the EHU Vis Moot team, and this continues in the 2024-2025 academic year. Еuropean Humanities University and the EHU Vis Moot team extend their sincere gratitude to the Commercial Law Development Program for their ongoing contribution to the success and growth of our team.

The EHU community is excited to support Konstantin, Anastasiya, Ulyana and Uladzislau as they prepare for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot competition. Their dedication, combined with the diverse legal expertise they bring, sets the stage for another successful year. We wish them the best of luck as they represent EHU on the international stage.
