Participants come from a great variety of disciplinary backgrounds including psychology, medicine, law, sociology, history, philosophy, international security studies as well as mathematics, physics and engineering. During the academy they convene in four working groups, conducted by renowned scientists from German, Lithuanian, Swedish, Swiss and Ukrainian universities or research institutions. The groups’ topics are Ukraine 2024 as an international inflection point, Nation and Democracy in Modern Ukraine, Digital Disinformation in Europe as well as The Lives and Memories of Jews in Lithuania and Eastern Europe. In addition to that participants engage in field trips, see film screenings and meet up with various personalities from different spheres of society such as the German ambassador to Lithuania, Cornelius Zimmermann, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, and others.
On occasion of the Third Vilnius Summer Academy the Acting Rector of EHU, Vilius Šadauskas and the Studienstiftung’s Secretary General, Annette Julius, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, stating that the two institutions intend to continue their cooperation also for the next years.
