Prof. Vashkevich presents the report on separation of powers in the Constitution of Belarus

On October 23, an Annual International Conference “Constitutional Separation of Powers” dedicated to the Day of the Lithuanian Constitution took place at the Seimas of Lithuania. The conference was organized by Mykolas Romeris University, Seimas Committee on Legal Affairs, and the Lithuanian Bar Association. Former Justice of the Constitutional Court of Belarus, Prof. Aliaksandr Vashkevich of the European Humanities University Department of Social Sciences opened the second part of the conference.
During the conference, scholars from Lithuania-based Universities were accompanied by scholars and researchers from Gdansk University, Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University of Ukraine, the University of Texas at Austin, and the European Court of Justice. In his paper “Principle of Separation of Powers in the Constitution of Belarus: Theory and Practice” Prof. Vashkevich highlighted the historical context and the existing discrepancies in the fulfillment of the constitutional principle of separation of powers in nowadays Belarus.
