Erasmus+ expands practical experience of EHU students in the field of Jewish heritage

In August-September 2019, second-year students of the undergraduate program “European Heritage” Yauheniya Marholina and Lizaveta Savich spent 2 months traineeship at the Grodzka Gate – NN Theater in Lublin (Poland).

International traineeship for EHU students has become possible thanks to the partial support of the Erasmus+ program. Students were involved in project activities related to the actualization of Jewish heritage in Poland and nearby countries such as Belarus, Lithuania, and Ukraine. One of the projects of NN Theater is Shtetl Routes. This project collects information about shtetls, their history and is also engaged in actualizing the heritage that is left there at the moment. The task of the students was to expand the library of available material in Belarus, to search for important contacts and organizations that could help actualize the local heritage.

According to the students: “We managed to work with a wide range of professionals in our field and learn from them the information and skills that can help us in the future. We hope that someday we will be able to make our own large-scaled and significant projects within the framework of the “European Heritage” undergraduate program”.

During the internship, Yauheniya and Lizaveta have managed to work with professionals in the field of heritage, as well as to gain practical skills that will be useful in the future.
