Strengthening Cultural Ties: EHU Professor A. Kalbaska Visits the Skaryna Library in London

At the invitation of the Governing Board, Professor of the Department of Humanities and Arts Aliaksandr Kalbaska visited the Belarusian Library and Museum named after Francysk Skaryna in London. From his own collection, two rare publications were donated to the library: a typewritten text of the report by Mikola Avramchyk “On the Natural Resources of Belarus”, printed in London in 1947, and a collection of poetry by Yanka Kupala, published by “Batskaushchyna”, New York-Munich, 1955.

A presentation of the work of EHU teachers on the creation of the Francysk  Skaryna European Cultural Route was held. The routes and results of the 2020–2024 expeditions were outlined. He presented and donated his own edition of the children’s book “European Routes of Francysk Skaryna” to the library. Consultations were held between library and museum staff regarding the creation of a permanent museum exhibition “Building the National Identity of Belarusians: 16th – 20th Centuries”. An agreement was reached on the joint preparation of a virtual museum project dedicated to the relations of the Skaryna Library and Museum with Belarusian diasporas around the world.
