EHU Press

Founded in Minsk in 1995, the European Humanities University Press specializes in scholarly research publications and textbooks in the University’s areas of focus: media and visual design, media and communication (visual studies: cinema, television, Internet), Belarusian studies (history of Belarus and cultural anthropology), social and political philosophy, international law, theory and practice of contemporary art, cultural heritage and tourism, and political science and European studies.

The objective of the EHU Press is to publish materials supporting the educational process at the University, and to publish high-quality research and fiction targeting the extramural reader audience. Books and publications by the EHU Press are offered in the following series.

  • a series on culture, philosophy, arts, and social sciences of France
  • a philosophy series, “Scholia”, including translated works of prominent contemporary thinkers
  • a visual and cultural studies series focusing on interaction between the media and the society
  • a “Conditio Humana” series with publications on social anthropological and political issues
  • the Center for Advanced Studies and Education (CASE) series consisting of over 15 monographs by scholars from Belarus, Ukraine, and Moldova
  • a series of books in Belarusian language addressing the historical and cultural specifics of Belarus

The EHU Press actively collaborates with editorial boards of the University’s academic journals. Five periodicals are published by the EHU Press:

  • Topos, a journal of philosophy and cultural studies
  • Crossroads, a journal focusing on Eastern European borderlands
  • Crossroads Digest, containing translations of the most interesting publications of the Crossroads quarterly and original articles
  • Tsaytschrift (צײַטשריפֿט), a journal addressing the history, demography, economy, literature, language, and ethnography of the Jews
  • Homo Historicus, focusing on historical anthropology, social anthropology, ethnology and new approaches to research in history
