In memoriam Jillian Hocking

European Humanities University (EHU) is sad to announce the untimely death of a former EHU faculty member Jillian Hocking.

A renowned Australian media expert, former ABC Radio National and BBC Corporation journalist Jillian Hocking started her collaboration with EHU media projects in 2010 and later joined faculty of the EHU undergraduate program in “Media and Communication”. Among the courses that Ms. Hocking taught at EHU were “Media Management and Public Relations”, “Radio Feature Production”, “Multimedia Journalism”, and “Digital Storytelling”. Ms. Hocking taught at EHU till 2014.

Before joining EHU academic community, Ms. Hocking was Head of Radio Broadcasting for the United Nations in Afghanistan for 2 years. Starting from early 90’s, Ms. Hocking worked in broadcasting in Australia and the UK.

Jillian Hocking was highly experienced communicator with a demonstrated commitment to promoting cultural diversity. As a talented educator, Ms. Hawking trained several generations of professional journalists.

EHU academic community is grateful for Ms. Hocking’s contribution to the development of media education in the University.

Jillian Hocking passed away on November 9, after two years of struggling with glioblastoma.
