Results of Competition for the European Parliament Study Tour, 10-11 March 2009

20 students and 2 lecturers of the European Humanities University will go on a European Parliament Study Tour on 10-11 March 2009

The Selection Committee is pleased to announce that a delegation has been selected for participation in the European Parliament Study Tour from among 45 applications.

The delegation will consist of 13 BA face-to-face students, 3 BA low-residence students, 2 MA students studying in different programs, as well as 2 lecturers in the BA program in Political Science and European Studies.

Apart from the 18 students and 2 lecturers chosen for participation in the Study Tour, a second group consisting of 11 students was selected as candidates for further consideration in case members of the first group drop out or become disqualified.

All participants and candidates will be notified individually about their place in the study tour.

The competition was held in two stages. Candidates were evaluated internally on the basis of their applications. Those who earned the highest scores were selected for interviews in person or via Skype.

Students were evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • High academic standing
  • Quality of essay
  • Proficiency in English language
  • Active participation in student life and international meetings at EHU
  • Communication skills (for face-to-face students) and program’s coordinator’s evaluation (for low-residence students)
  • Interview (face-to-face or via skype)

Students who participate in the Study Tour are required to deliver a presentation to the academic community before April 1st.

Essays prepared for the competition will be selected for publication in the form of a booklet presented to the European Parliament President, major donors and supporters. The booklet will also be published on the website.

Students are welcome to visit the students’ activities coordinator for questions or consultation concerning the competition and the Study Tour (Room 120).
