The program acquaints students with the fundamentals of classical philosophy, with particular emphasis on phenomenology and hermeneutics. They study contemporary tendencies in philosophy and their application to real social, political, and cultural issues. Students may take courses in Philosophy, Social Sciences, History of Political Ideas and Ethics, Social and Cultural Modernization, Culture and Identity, the Public Sphere and the Mass Media, and a Critique of Ideology. Students will be able to apply their acquired philosophical knowledge to various fields of humanities and social practices, enabling them to constantly re-evaluate experience in the context of new information and changing social practices. They will be expected to master classical languages at the level required for scholarly work with original texts.
