The program is delivered in cooperation with Södertön College, Sweden, and is unique in Belarus. Students acquire a thorough knowledge of the geographical, cultural and historical context responsible for the formation of European identities, as well as a comparative understanding of the historical dynamics of European civilization. The program combines professional training in contemporary paradigms and issues of history with an interdisciplinary approach (involving political science, cultural studies and the study of the cultural heritage) and an emphasis on the comparative history of North-eastern Europe (primarily Belarus and the Baltic countries), with their shared historical and cultural heritage. The program aims to develop academic research skills, while at the same time students learn specific analytical techniques for practical policy research, which will facilitate the resolution of difficulties in integrating Belarus with the contemporary European ‘intellectual space’ and ensuring social and political stability in the region.
